We all laughed as we read the sign the kids had made for the stand. Kylie & Logan, our niece and nephew, stopped by with grandma and grandpa to see if we needed any lemonade while we worked. The weather was perfect! That afternoon we had some special visitors… After months of working diligently (after work… after chores…after dinner…) it was ready for paint! We first shared a bit about ourselves with the kids and then began to unfold the concepts of our program. Our program was formatted in more of a workshop style than our other Lemonade Stand programs. They will be creating and working on this for ideas and even doing some 3D printing. Participants are required to bring a laptop or internet device such as a tablet if they do not have a laptop. Other children come as a holiday program away from school, whilst their parents are working. Many of the children have discovered this program on their own behalf and interested their parents enough to send them along.
Generally participants are children between grades 5 and 6, although this is a loose category and it is relevant for children aged 9 to 13 (and perhaps above and below this depending on interest and drive). This workshop will give them the skills to develop these different ideas and different businesses, so they can flow with the trends moving through their life and career. It is commonly understood in marketing that it is not likely over the span of a modern child's lifetime that they would have only one career, rather it is understood that they will move from career to career at different stages.
